Red Barrels’ The Outlast Trials is 70% off on Steam. The US price drops from $39.99 to $11.99, and the sale ends on Monday, November 9, at 18:00 UTC.

What you get

It’s a horror game from the Outlast series, and unlike the earlier games you can play it co-op: solo, or in a team of 2 to 4 players. It released on March 5, 2024.

The story is set in the Cold War. You’re kidnapped as a human guinea pig by the Murkoff Corporation and put through “therapies” meant to brainwash you. In practice that means running, hiding and avoiding enemies, using tools you can upgrade to blind or stun them or see through walls. Co-op is never forced in the mandatory objectives, but according to the game’s description, working together can help a lot.

If you love horror and aren’t easily scared, this is a good opportunity, especially with friends on your team.

Price and platform

The sale price is as of writing, and the Steam page lists it as valid through November 9. The game runs on Windows and has full controller support.
