Stranger Than Heaven players can equip combat assist items from the start. Producer Hiroyuki Sakamoto told IGN that the items can automatically restore health and help players who struggle with blocking get through encounters using basic left and right punches.

The assistance will be visible on the character: the items are worn as garments, so viewers can see when they are equipped. The game also has difficulty settings and an extended early tutorial. Sakamoto said the team adjusted balance and control responsiveness after feedback from players who tried show-floor demos.

RGG Studio’s game is scheduled for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on January 15, 2027.
