Pillars of Eternity games open PC controller support test
The public test is live on Steam, GOG and Xbox on PC, with turn-based changes for Deadfire.

Obsidian has opened a public test for controller support in the PC versions of Pillars of Eternity and Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire. Both games can be played with a controller from start to finish, and players can switch to mouse and keyboard at any time. Deadfire’s support includes naval combat.
The test is available on Steam, GOG and Xbox on PC. To join on Steam, right-click the game in your library, open Properties, select Betas and choose public_beta. Steam Deck players need to select the Gamepad with Joystick Trackpad template, or Gamepad if the first is unavailable. Obsidian expects bugs during the test and has not given a full release date.
Deadfire’s turn-based combat has also been reworked for the test. Character speed affects how often a character acts, and combat is more lethal. Swapping weapons, drinking potions and toggling ability modes are free actions, but each type is limited to one activation per turn. Players can turn the mode on or off during a playthrough while outside combat.
