Scramble Knights Online is in Game Preview after moving beyond battle royale

Funktronic Labs presents an MMO-lite adventure for Xbox Series and PC, with Game Pass and cooperative quests. It remains an unfinished Game Preview release.

Scramble Knights Online is available in Game Preview on Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC through Xbox, including Game Pass. In Funktronic Labs’ Xbox Wire post, the developer explains how a project that began as a battle royale became an adventure built around cooperation.

Why the direction changed

The studio says its first public playtest showed that players enjoyed the exploration and world but struggled with the battle royale elements. The team shifted toward an MMO-lite: take on quests, collect loot, then return to town to improve equipment and meet other players.

The store listing describes solo play or groups of up to four, with dungeons and puzzles. Cooperation does not eliminate competition: the listing still includes PvP encounters between groups.

I would like to try the cooperative direction, with the right expectations for an early version.

What is available now

The Game Preview label matters. The store warns that this is a work in progress and that a final release is not guaranteed. Joining now means playing the current unfinished version. Xbox Play Anywhere support also lets buyers use one purchase across supported PC and console versions.

The October 26 developer post calls it launch day, while the US store’s release-date field shows December 10, 2025. Neither source explains that discrepancy; both confirm current availability and the Game Preview designation.
