Phantom Blade Zero ran at roughly 45–60 frames per second in the sections James Archer of Rock Paper Shotgun tested on Steam Machine. He used 1080p, the Medium preset and FSR on Quality.

His Steam Deck OLED fared differently: Archer reported that the game could not hold 30fps even on Low with Ultra Performance upscaling, with drops into the teens. Those observations describe his device and the sections he played.

Archer also encountered an unresponsive map button on the Steam Controller that stopped him in a tutorial. He worked around it by remapping Select in SteamOS controller settings to emulate a PS5 controller’s touchpad click. He also reported slowdowns in some cutscenes on Steam Machine; his suggested settings turn ray tracing and frame generation off.
