Tattered Banners, Xenospore and Alpha Nomos won the first GameIS indie grants in partnership with Xsolla. GameIS’s announcement, reposted by RibCage Games, says 80 games entered. The awards are not new; we are revisiting the winners to see what can be played today.

The three winners

  • First place: CookieByte Entertainment’s Tattered Banners, a fantasy tactical RPG.
  • Second place: Aviv Levy’s Xenospore, a turn-based strategy puzzle game.
  • Third place: RibCage Games’ Alpha Nomos, which combines action and rhythm.

Where the games stand today

Tattered Banners, from the team behind Fort Triumph, already received a first look here. Its Steam page lists a first-quarter 2027 release and offers a free demo.

Alpha Nomos launched on Steam on October 12. Our article covers this already released option among the winners.

Xenospore has players protect cities from an alien fungus that spreads each turn. Destroy groups of tiles to isolate the fungus, cleanse infected cities and activate technology tiles. The store description lists handcrafted levels and pixel art.

It supports Windows and an English interface. Steam still lists the game as coming soon, but the same page offers the free Xenospore Demo and a wishlist option for the full game.

The Xenospore demo especially interests me: a focused idea can stand out without a huge production.
