Frostpunk 2 expansion The Surge arrives December 14

Frostpunk 2: The Surge will arrive on PC on December 14, 2026, according to its Steam page. The expansion requires the base game on Steam.

In 11 bit studios’ new scenario, survivors travel to a remote valley following rumours of a relic with the potential to change their world. The developer says a new resource will expand city automation, while factions disagree over how to use it. Rock Paper Shotgun identifies that resource as electricity.

The valley also has caves and ruins to explore. The expansion will add technology for harvesting and storing resources from whiteout storms, as well as choices that shape society’s path and the story’s outcomes.
