Rumor: EA employees describe limits on AI tool use

Vertical Slice reports that employees are encouraged to use generative AI tools while facing unclear budget caps.

Barak Eliyahu – site manager of The Checkpoint Daily

Current and former EA employees told Chris Kerr of Vertical Slice that they are encouraged to use generative AI tools while budget caps can cut off access. The report says the company has not introduced a blanket mandate to use the tools, which include Anthropic’s Claude.

One current employee, speaking anonymously, told the outlet that the budget cap is opaque and that exceeding it cuts off access for the rest of the month. Another described a colleague who was told to stop using the technology after exceeding a $100 monthly limit.

Vertical Slice says it has repeatedly asked EA for comment on its AI policies and had not received a response.
