Bungie plans to restore Destiny 2 campaigns, with about a year of production ahead
The plan includes Red War, Forsaken and two other campaigns alongside removed activities. Preparation is expected to last into early 2027.

Bungie plans to restore four campaigns removed from Destiny 2, including Red War and Forsaken, along with other activities. The first pass is intended for all players, but the work is still in preparation: the studio expects roughly a year of production after that stage, according to its update.
Four campaigns and the Menagerie
The initial work targets the Red War, Forsaken, Curse of Osiris and Warmind campaigns. It also includes Strikes, Raids and Raid Lairs from those releases, as well as the Menagerie activity with reprised rewards.
Bungie’s head of product Josh Deane said removing content fragmented the experience and damaged community trust, even if there were technical challenges behind the decision. Restoring the campaigns is the first step in the company’s plan to rebuild the game.
Preparation runs until January or February
The team is in a pre-production and proof-of-work stage, testing the process of porting the old content and checking its quality. Bungie expects that stage to last until roughly January or February 2027, followed by about 12 months of production to complete the port. The company has not announced a release date.
Free-roam destinations, seasonal activities and PvP maps are among the additional goals under consideration, but they are not guaranteed as part of the first pass. Raid weapon updates are also on that list; Bungie says it will provide more detail as the work progresses.
The next major communication about Destiny is targeted for February, with progress reports on the restoration along the way. Bungie also said not to expect a Destiny announcement at this year’s Game Awards.
