ASUS has announced the availability of two 24.5-inch OLED monitors aimed at competitive gaming. The ROG Swift OLED PG259QWS Ace has a 720Hz refresh rate, while the ROG Strix OLED XG259QWPG Ace reaches 540Hz. Both use Full HD panels with a resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels.

Refresh rate determines how many times a display can update its image each second. To make full use of a high refresh rate in a game, the PC also needs to produce a similar number of frames per second; the monitor’s maximum alone doesn’t guarantee that.

Different connections for the two models

According to ASUS’s announcement, both screens use a glossy Tandem WOLED panel with two light-emitting layers. The company lists a 0.02-millisecond gray-to-gray response time and peak HDR brightness of up to 1,700 nits.

The Swift has DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR20 and a position sensor that shows height, tilt and distance from the user on screen. That lets players try to reproduce their setup after moving to another gaming station. The Strix uses DisplayPort 1.4 with DSC compression; both have two HDMI 2.1 ports.

ASUS lists a three-year warranty that includes OLED burn-in. Israeli pricing and availability have not been announced.
