Publisher Astragon Entertainment is closing Astragon Development, the German studio formerly known as Independent Arts Software. More than 40 employees are affected, according to GamesMarket, as reported by GamesIndustry.biz. The company is seeking socially responsible solutions for them.

GamesMarket described the closure as part of a strategic realignment. Founded in 1990, the studio worked on co-development and ports to other platforms. Astragon acquired it in 2023 and renamed it Astragon Development in 2025.

The studio developed Seafarer: The Ship Sim for Astragon Entertainment, according to the game’s official site. Its full release arrived at the end of September, and GamesIndustry.biz reports that the company has said it will continue updating the game for now.
