The final major content update for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced goes live today, October 27, at 14:00 UTC (7:00 AM PT) on all platforms. Ubisoft says smaller quality-of-life updates will follow over the coming months, but no more big content drops.

New Game+, up to five times

Finished players can restart the story and keep most of what they earned: Edward’s tools, upgrades and weapons, the Jackdaw’s upgrades, outfits, hideout progress, the Kenway fleet and Codex items. Officers need to be recruited again, quest items are removed, and forts must be retaken.

Each loop makes the seas more dangerous, with more Elite Soldiers and max-rank ships on patrol, up to New Game+++++. A new currency, Escudos, is earned through challenges and by re-looting completed chests, and buys outfits and items exclusive to New Game+.

Nightmare mode

The new hard mode has enemies dealing 1.8x damage, a shorter parry window and no white glint warning on attacks. The one-shot-kill safety is also disabled, so a bullet or an explosion can kill Edward even with plenty of health left. In stealth, enemies detect you faster and hear you when you move faster than a walk.

It’s great to see them investing in this game! For anyone who doesn’t remember, it has been named the best pirate game many times over, by plenty of reviewers and gaming news writers.

Also in the update

Ubisoft hid new community chests, some with community-requested rewards and no easy hints. Takedown animations from the original game return (hidden blade, unarmed, single sword and gunblade), along with new cosmetics and bug fixes, including one that stopped the game launching in offline mode after a lost connection. The full list is in Ubisoft’s post.
