Anthropic has changed Claude Code’s instructions to steer users away from requests to recreate someone else’s specific game. A company spokesperson referred Game Developer to a statement by staff member Addy Osmani confirming the change to the tool’s Opus 5.5 prompt.

The statement says users should still be able to make original games, games in a genre, or games using their own designs and assets.

The prompt change was spotted on October 27. The company’s confirmation followed in Game Developer’s updated report.
