Age of Wonders 4: The Silver Seas launched on November 3, letting players build cities at sea and turn them into floating fortresses. The paid expansion is available for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series, and is the first expansion included in Expansion Pass 4.

The new Mercantile Culture makes those seaborne cities possible. According to Triumph Studios’ game director, players can choose between two pirate styles: the Cartel grows through smuggling and secrecy, while the Barony uses its wealth to import supplies and put bounties on enemies.

The expansion also adds two forms for players’ peoples, Sharkkin and Aqualon, along with a tome of water and ice magic, pirate dwellings and stories, and sea creatures to fight.

Paradox says the seas also have new events, landmarks and ancient wonders, as well as a new magic material for the empire.
